Clay has been climbing in the Gunks for 17 years and has climbed in many of
the well known climbing destinations across the country. After running
Rockville Climbing Center for eight years, he realized that teaching was
where his energies should be focused, and he has succeeded in avoiding the
full time job by guiding in the Gunks and teaching skiing and snowboarding
at Mammoth Mountain, CA. Most recently he lived on the east side of the
Sierra for two years and climbed in the back country and all over Tuolumne
Meadows, including two climbs listed in Fifty Classic Climbs of North
America Clyde Minaret East Face and Regular Route of Fairview Dome. When
he's not climbing or biking or skiing, he usually at play rehearsal at a
local theater company.
