Kayak Coach, British Canoe Union Canoe Safety Assessor, American Canoe
Association Open Water Instructor, SOLO Wilderness Medical Instructor,
Wilderness EMT, Vermont EMT Intermediate, Level 1 Avalanche Training.
Todd began climbing in 1991; after returning to Germany from Operation
Desert Storm and was assigned to a 3 week course in military mountaineering
in the German Alps. During those three weeks he realized that outdoor
pursuits would play an important role in his future. Since that time he
has worked full time as both a professional guide and outdoor pursuit’s
instructor. His career has afforded him the opportunity to trek, climb
and paddle throughout North America, South America, Africa and Europe
but he always returned to Northern New England. He is currently the Director
of Wilderness Programs at Saint
Michael's College where he instruct wilderness medicine, rock/ice/alpine climbing, sea
kayaking, whitewater kayaking and leadership courses. He firmly believes
that mountain sports and outdoor pursuits are accessible to everyone and
being present when a client or student makes a connection is both an honor
and the source of his professional motivation. In addition, he is committed
to providing "state of the sport" training, coaching and information
in all disciplines.
