Crevasse Rescue

Crevasse rescue skills are required for all who travel on glaciers. Don't assume that just because your partner knows them, you don't need to. The safety of the entire teams relies on every member being proficient with the neccessary skills. What happens if one of your partners were unfortunate and fell into a crevasse - could you stop them, or create the required hauling system to get them out?

Crevasse rescue skills involve snow anchors, knots and hitches, friction hitches, prussiking skills, hauling techniques, and the ability to comprehend all those skills and put them into a usable "system" based on your resources and the situation you are presented with. Our crevasse rescue skills course can be held at a cliff to show you the tools and techniques required for the job, and then reviewed on the glacier. If you are heading out on a glacier trip, let us show you the tools, provide a refresher, or take you out on a glacier for real-life training during one of our trips to the North Cascades, Ecuador, and other locations.
