Snow & Glacier Travel Techniques

Snow travel and glacier travel both have their risks and required skills for passage; we provide instruction for traveling in those environments. Whether you're an avid hiker wanting to reach the summits in the winter, or a competent climber looking for new rocks that require glacier travel, the skills learned here will open the doors to new adventures.

We'll cover the essential techniques for travel on snow and glaciers - equipment selection and usage; knots; friction hitches; basic crampon & ice axe techniques (french techniques); self arrest; rope team methods; coiling and carrying of excess rope; rigging your harness and rope for glacier travel; route planning; and more.
