Rich Romano Fund Auction

Rich Romano

A good friend and local climbing pioneer Rich Romano was involved in a serious accident at City of Rocks, Idaho on August 31, 2010.  Unfortunately, Rich's insurance will not cover the rescue fees or the ongoing post-ER visits for his therapy and various other expenses associated with his recovery.

A few of Rich’s friends started a project to help Rich raise funds- RomanoFund.com. Alpine Endeavors would like to help and will be auctioning off two days of guided climbing - one at Millbrook, one at Sky Top.

MILLBROOK

Lesson in History Ryan following the traverse on A Lesson In History.

Climbing at Millbrook is more than your average day. It requires a long approach, and the need to rappel in and climb out - reasons you don't see many other climbers, if any when out there. Not only is the time required a big commitment, but having to find the route from the top, rappel in, and be able to climb out to get home is an even bigger commitment. These reasons and the fact that it provides an incredible amount of quality, tradition climbing routes - many of which Rich did the first ascent on, is why we have chose Millbrook as one of auction days.

Square Meal - gunks Square Meal - another classic Romano route.

Let one of our experienced guides share some tales on the approach, and show you the beauty that Millbrook has to offer. Routes will be chosen upon the climbers experience level, but all climbers going to Millbrook should be confident, multi-pitch rock climbers at 5.7 or higher.

SKY TOP

Sky Top - Alpine Endeavors

Sky Top is another area that is different from your usual day. Access to climbing requires you to be an overnight or meal guest of Mohonk. Where else can you eat and take a casual walk to an incredible cliff. Sky Top also holds many great climbs and classic Romano routes. Let Alpine Endeavors treat you and your partner to breakfast and climbing. Routes will be chosen upon the climbers experience level, Sky Top offers a variety of climbs for climbers of all experience levels.
